Gymnastics Cert Update: It is amazing what you can learn in one day at a CrossFit Certification. Let’s keep this simple, and say after attending this certfication, it does not make me a gymnast of any kind. However, it does give you the tools to understand what you are teaching and how to teach the progressions for all sorts of gymnastics movements. It’s truly a humbling experience to attend this cert because it makes you realize how much you as yourself have to work on, but it also opens your eyes up to why we perform these gymnastic movements in CrossFit. As Coach Tucker says, it is a cert that truly teaches you how to learn the various body movements in this sport and skill. Gymnastics right below Nutrition is the foundation to CrossFit and one of the key elements to being successful in CrossFit. The first day was packed with learning progressions for the back lever, front lever, ice cream makers, ring holds, ring supports, skin the cats, L-Sits, V-Ups, Iron Crosses, the false grip and how to properly spot for each of these movements. All these gymnastic movements are transferent to other skills in CrossFit. This meaning that with these skills that you learn in gymnastics they will be foundational to beinf successful in Olympic Lifts, Powerlifting, and so on. Also, core stability, core strength, and body awareness is evident in all these movements with the hollow position of gymnastic movements. I am very happy to say, that I will be a better trainer and affiliate owner after attending this certification. Everything is transferable and also everything is scaleable with these movements. Only way we can better ourselves in our weaknesses is to practice these movement as skill sets and hit repetition after repetition to train our mental and neurological memory. All in All the first day was a complete success and pretty sure Sunday, will be another Home Run!!
