II. Life as RX Tour 2011 Hartford and The Race Around the Lake 2011 Teams:
Congratulations to every Vagabond who competed in some sort of competition this weekend. The US Tour 2011 was a huge success with John Thomas finishing in the Top 20, Janet finishing in the top 7 before having to bow out of the last workout due to an injury and to the Race Around the Lake Crew who finished almost 150 miles as a team in 24 Hours. I cannot begin to say how proud I am of everyone and how hard everyone worked during these last two days. It makes me happy to see our community growing in each and every way of fitness! Keep up the Good Work and Get Comfortable with being Uncomfortable!
Kevin, Heard you tore the place apart with your performance this weekend, first place!! I didn’t see you write that in the notes. So glad to be training with you as our coach!! Awesome job!
Just wanted to say that John did an amazing job with the Sunday class today! We had a great showing as well. He showed us a cool way to practice double unders by using two jump ropes. Thanks for coaching, John!!
Kevin is an awsome head coach, and a good friend. He leads by example, and his humility is humbling. The guy won the life as RX world tour in Hartford, and didn’t brag or even fist pump once, nor did I hear him say anything during or before the competition that indicated that he thought he’d crush everybody. He simply went out there when it was time for his heat in each of the events, and casually left everything he had out on the competition floor like his life depended on it. Going into the final event still in first place he had no choice but to wear his heavy oly lifting shoes. He needed them due to their compression because he had hurt his foot earlier, knowing damn well it would cost him precious time and efficiency on several of the movements…200 double unders, and toes to bar to name the two cruelest… yet he went though the wod UNSCARED and like his life depended on it, not doing the best on that particular WOD, but well enough to hold the first place spot overall. Congratulations Kevin O’malley.
