Vagabond of the Month for September: Kara Connolly
Month you were born in: September 28, 1973
Where you are originally from and/or where you live now:
I grew up in Easton and moved to Plymouth for 11 years, when I first got married. Then 2 years ago I moved back to Easton. back into the same house I grew up in!
What days/times you typically train at VBC:
I ALWAYS go to the 6 AM classes, Monday through Friday.
In addition to being a Vagabond:
I am… I am a mom to 5 amazing kids. I had them all within 5 1/2 years, so they are very close and keep me super busy. I am a stay at home mom and a person of strong faith. My family and my faith are the most important things to me. They ALWAYS come first. I was a physical therapist assistant and a physical education teacher in Easton before I had kids. Sometimes I think it would be easier to go back to work than to stay at home!
Some training goals:
Well my all time goal was to be Vagabond of the month, so I guess I need to find a new goal. Now I hope to someday do a pull-up on my own! Considering when I started at VBC I could barely do a ring row, I am on my way.
What’s the best thing about Vagabond?
Where do I start? My first workout was on Memorial Day 2013, I pulled into the parking lot and started to have an anxiety attack. There were so many cars and so many people, and I knew nobody. I almost turned around and went home. Somehow, shaking and all, I made my way through the door. To my surprise everyone was so friendly and willing to help me out. I left that day feeling like I actually belonged. That was my first experience seeing the VBC family, and I was so impressed. The family atmosphere that Kevin created really hit home last winter. When my nephew was hurt in my backyard, VBC came together to show me how much they cared. I was in such a bad place that I honestly can say without you I would have gone off the deep end. I didn’t want to get out of bed, but I knew that the comfort I would get in the gym would give me the strength I needed to get through the day. Words didn’t need to be said, I could just feel your love. When I was on the altar at Matt’s funeral doing a reading, i could physically feel your strength holding me up. it was an amazing feeling to know that so many people were thinking and praying for us. Vagabond has not only made me physically stronger but it has made me mentally stronger as well. I know now that I can handle anything that is thrown at me. Becoming a Vagabond was one of the best decisions of my life. Thank you so much
