"Redemption Drug and Alcohol Awareness Charity Event"(11.13.2010)
I. Charity Event at CrossFit Del Valley:
Great Event. Great Time. Great Cause. Just want to give a shout out to Carlos Gibson who put this fundraiser together for raising money for the Frank Fowler Memorial Fund. Carlos lost his brother to a heroin overdose over four years ago, and decided to put together a CrossFit Event to raise money for Drug Rehab Centers. It was amazing to see the support on a Saturday Morning for an event of this nature. The day was capped off with a small competition with about 40 people participating in the workout. This could be a possible start of a great organization that Carlos and myself might pursue in the near future of traveling to different CrossFit Gyms around the country making aware of the problem of drug addiction throughout our country. I have been to alot of CrossFit Events over the last few years, but this could possibly take the cake as one of my bright points in CrossFit. Thank You Carlos, CrossFit Delaware Valley, and Rob Miller!!

Great event yesterday!!! Thank you so much for your support and for coming all the way down here to speak at the event. I think it had a big impact on people’s perception of this disease as well as put a face to success story of what we are trying to do. I think you said it perfect “when people hear or think of drug addicts and or alcoholics that they see them as junkies or people from low level society; but the truth is its every where and it could be your neighbor family member or friend and you wouldn’t even know it and if you do know most don’t know how to help”. This is a serious disease that I hope with our efforts that we can help change these perceptions so people can open their eyes and help be proactive at fighting this. Also more important is being able help those who struggle with the disease by giving them a positive and healthy environment which is CorssFit. Your story was inspirational as Ive told you ;homeless to an elite athlete who used Crossfit as your new lifestyle . You done a lot in your 25 years and wish you nothing but the best in your future ventures. I think we can do big things down the road with this event!!!
Thanks Again and you are always welcomed in The Yunk!
