Vagabond of the Month for July: David Hobaica

Month you were born in:  October
Where you are originally from and/or where you live now:
I grew up in Easton and currently live in Mansfield with my wife and 3 daughters.
What days/times you typically train at VBC:
I try to train 4-5 days a week.  I typically take the 4:30 class this time of year but shift to the 12:00class during the winter months.
My proudest accomplishment(s) in my training:
I am really happy to have been able to complete all of the workouts in the Games this year.  Finishing 4th in the world for my age group (scaled, of course) and tying for 1st in the northeast was a great bonus!  (Btw, this would never have been possible without Heather’s support!)
Some current training goals and/or personal goals are:  My goals are very simple – stay fit and stay healthy!

What’s the best thing about Vagabond: I love showing up knowing that I am going to be surrounded by a great community of people who share the common goal of working really hard and constantly trying to improve physically.  If I am not being pushed by others in my class (which is rare), I will definitely be pushed by our great coaches.  Speaking of the coaches, I really appreciate the fact that they are all very aware of everyone’s limitations and are legitimately concerned for our welfare.  My flexibility issues are well documented but each and every coach goes out of their way to make sure I am technically sound and not doing anything stupid.  This, of course, starts with Kevin who has done a terrific job building such a great community at VGB.  After tweaking my back last week doing snatches, Kevin said that I should never do them again as I don’t need them to stay fit.  He also got as warm and fuzzy as he gets and said he wants me to stay healthy so I can still be training at VGB in 20 years.  That sounds great to me…….after 4-1/2 years, what’s another 20?
