Vagabond of the Month for July: Tim W

VAGABOND OF THE MONTH FOR JULY: TIM W

Month you were born in:

I was born in November

Where you are originally from and/or where you live now:

I am from North Salem, New York. I currently attend Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts – right next door to Vagabond!

What days/times you typically train at VB:

While I was staying at Stonehill this summer doing research, I liked to come in at around 4 in the afternoon every weekday and typically took the weekends off. During the school year, things get busy so I try to do early mornings around 7 before classes start and I’ll try to make it in at least 3 times a week.

My proudest accomplishment(s) in my training:

I am proud of how much better my overall fitness has gotten over the past year at VB. I have gone from being slightly terrified of the workouts to feeling excited and ready to go before each one. A specific training accomplishment that comes to mind is my Power Clean PR of 187.5 lbs. Developing my clean technique and slowly progressing in weight has been something I have enjoyed since the beginning.

Some current training goals and/or personal goals are:

My current training goals are: 200 lbs power clean, improve power snatch technique, get to the gym more often during the school year by setting a more strict schedule, continue to eat healthy, and make the most of my next two years at Stonehill and Vagabond!

What’s the best thing about Vagabond:

What makes Vagabond so great is the supportive community. Every single coach I have met there has helped me in some way – correcting form, giving motivation during a tough workout, or just offering good fitness advice. They are always there to help and nobody is overlooked. All of the people I have met here are all remarkably kind and friendly individuals who give it their all during their workouts which is a very inspiring thing to see. A special thanks to Kevin for paying attention and noticing the times when I wasn’t coming in and reminding me to get back to it! That little extra push was what I needed. Also, thank you to Jay who gave direction and helped keep me on track. You’re an awesome coach and a big reason Vagabond is the place it is!
